39 HP @ rear wheels

Got the September issue of Sport Truck the other day and finally got around to reading it. On page 96 they took a 4.2L and dynoed it stock and after adding a intake, exhaust (after cat), headers (equal lenght), pulley, chip (diablo), and a 180* thermostat they dynoed it again. They got 39 horsepower and 30 foot pounds of torque at the rear wheels. Now you can get a bit more if you go with electric fans and some roller rockers. Just passing on what I read to anybody who doesn't get the mag.

WOW.....
I am wondering how much they got from the chip. Was the chip custom burned?

I think the chip would depend on the brand and how much the pushed its limits. I've heard a chip tuner can give around 15 to 18 extra hp alone to the 4.2L. I have seen it done to a '96 GT mustang, but of coarse that's not at all a 4.2. It gave it 10 hp in the low end and 5 more at the top end. Thas all I knows yo!
