Trying to fire up after wreck

I wrecked my truck back in march and am finally getting to working on it. I tried to fire it up today and it cranks but wont fire. I have the fenders off and had to jumper a few grounds. Does the computer on the drivers side fender need to be grounded some how? The wait to start light comes on and i didnt notice any smoke coming out of the exhaust but i also didnt crank for very long. It has a bit of a whine that wasn't there before the wreck that i think might be the water pump so I didnt want to crank too long. I am gonna have someone listen while i crank to see if that is the issue. Is there anything i should look at that might be related to the wreck?

If it's been sitting for a while, I'd check the HPOP and make sure it's full. Charge the batteries, or replace them. Is the fuel filter full? Fuel in tank? Just mentioning things that can be easily overlooked.

Battery voltage must maintain at least 10.5 while cranking. Otherwise idm can not fire. A truck will crank fine and sound fine at 10 but not start. Put a charger on it. I bet it fires.

The whine was most likely there before . Fenders & hood off may not hide the noise as well.

I would also check the fuses. Depending on the severity of the wreck you may have a few that are blown

I've run one of our trucks with the IDM and PCM just sitting loose, not grounded.

Are you getting tach movement when you crank it? Did you crank it long enough to see if the oil pressure gauge would respond?

Had my dad look at the motor while I cranked it and the water pump is not turning. I'll have to replace that and then try again.

Um, the water pump won't keep the engine from starting. The only way the water pump would not be turning is if the belt were loose, or gone. Something you obviously need to address, but not related to a no-start.

I know that. I just want to replace the water pump before I move forward. The radiator was shoved back into the fan so I think the water pump is broken.

Make sure that all the ground wires are securely grounded. Just one poor ground could possibly cause a no start. There are a lot if them that connect to the radiator support and fenders.

If the radiator was shoved back into the fan...I would double check the cps wiring and sending unit itself...

How about taking the belt off and starting the truck before you waste any time putting a water pump on

Got the water pump on and the truck fired up today. Batteries were a little low and oil was a little low. Thanks for the help everyone! Now I dont have to get a roll back to get the truck to the frame shop. We can pull the truck on a trailer now.

I'm glad that you got it started but what did you do to get it running?
