Trying to fire up after wreck
#16
I had it hooked to my dads super duty to jump it and just cranked it on and off until the oil got to the injectors. It turned over just a little slow before i jumped it and the oil pressure gauge didnt move until the truck started to fire. This told me that the oil had drained from the injection system.

Ok so now I have a new problem. After reading a bunch of threads, I think the computer might have went, but id like to hear what you guys think.
So this morning I fired the truck up for the first time in a couple weeks. Still haven't gotten any further in the rebuild process, so the truck has been sitting. I thought that we were going to be taking it to the frame shop not long after i got it running the last time, so the motor has been uncovered since then. I had to jump it again because the batteries were a little weak, but it fired up pretty easily. It ran slightly rough and stalled out once.
When i fired it back up again, a check engine light was on, but it idled smooth. I walked back into the shop and let it idle for a while, but while i was inside it stalled again. It didnt get rough or anything, it just died almost like someone just turned the key off. I went back out to start it but it would not fire. The wait to start light will not come on and the tach does not move when it is turning over. I checked all of the fuses and they are all good. Fuse 22 gets power to both sides. I hooked up our snap-on scan tool and it just gives and error and won't communicate with the computer. This scan tool has worked n this truck previously. Because of this scan tool thing, I am thinking that the computer went. It does seem odd though that it would just cut out out of no where.
What is everyone else's thoughts on this?

I looked it over today. Nothing contacted it during the accident, and since the truck fired up I never replaced it. That will be the first thing I try, but since my scan tool won't communicate with the computer, I am leaning towards something else.

So my dad took a look at it today. He jumped the posts on the GPR, and the wait to start light came on and he was able to start the truck. He said it wasn't running correctly though and shut off and threw a CEL. This sounds to me that its a wiring issue. The fact that the front end is torn apart doesnt help either. I might leave it alone until I get the frame straightened and can get the fenders back on and get all the grounds and wiring hooked back up.

So I guess i will update this. I unhooked the small wires on the GPR and the tach started working again and the wait to start light came on. On closer inspection, the gpr had a large crack at one of the large posts. On top of that, the ICP sensor was failing as well. Man are those things expensive! That is one of the first parts that i have seen where NAPA was actually more expensive than through Ford. Anyway, all is well now and hopefully the truck will be going to the frame shop next week!
