1996 F150 Project, Advice/Help Needed!
Hey guys, this one is a bit of a yarn to follow so bear with me. I have a 1996 F150 XL ("Helley Hansen Edition") 4x4 with a straight six on a five speed. I drove it for a while but I got my dad's Dodge Durango when he upgraded and was driving that for a while, so the truck has been sitting idle for a few years now. I had it started 9 months to a year ago and it still runs, but I haven't moved it.
Either way, I had some money saved up and saw a '91 F150 XLT Lariat with only 63,000km on it. Interior is pristine, body is solid (with a few patches), box was pretty good, and the frame looked alright. Turns out the frame isn't so alright, it's cracked on the bottom where the tie rod ends are. It's fixable, but the more I dove into the under side the more spots I saw that were good for now, but the writing is on the wall.
So I'm looking at getting the '96 on the road again. I'm definitely swapping the boxes (the '96 has the entire driver side roached, passenger side isn't great either) but the entire reason I bought the '91 and didn't put money into the '96 is the body style. The '96 is still good, but I like the 91's front end that is more squared off and with the Lariat's chrome and the different front face, just looks a better truck to me.
So my question is, do the bolts and placements all line up? The cab seems to all be the same, so is it as simple as unbolting one and bolting on the other? I'm also planning on swapping the interiors as well for the burgandy '91 style replacing the beige curvy dash it has now. Also swapping the doors and wiring up the power windows. Essentially I'd like to swap everything and just keep the cab, frame, etc.
(I'll post pictures of the two trucks later when I get the chance).
