Help Identifying Ticking Noise
I have a 98 f150 that has recently developed a new noise.
to a video but I will also describe it.
There is a ticking noise that sounds like it is coming from the drivers side, my grandfather says it sounds like a leaking lifter but, correct me if I'm wrong, there are not lifters on the truck. The ticking stays kind of steady when idling but it sounds like it misses a few beats sometimes. When you rev it into 2000-3000 rpm it speeds up and sounds a lot more shaky. It seems to be seriously affecting the gas mileage as well. This is all getting pretty scary for a poor college student as an engine rebuild seems more and more likely.
Any help will be greatly appreciated, thanks in advance.

Wrong forum....
It sounds like, at times, it could be a horrible exhaust leak...but it also has a bad underlying noise aside from the possible exhaust sound.
However, it also sounds like catastrophic failure of one of the following:
Rod bearings, broken valve, wrist pin failure, or even broken piston.
Check oil pressure, drain oil to look for excessive metal, perform compression test.
