I had a kenwood navi unit put in and I'm kinda ticked at the quality of the install. I'm curious if there is a reason the unit has to protrude a bit and not sit flush. After all that dough spent its kinda hard to swallow there may be some laziness afoot.


It's kind of hard to see due to being in the parking garage but the entire thing sits proud about a 1/4" drives me nuts.

is the face plate motorized?
that may be why it has to stick out some.
maybe there is not enough room for it to go all the way back.
i would pull it out and have a look.

 

The face is motorized, I actually thought that may be why it has to set out but just seems it would be able to sit flush. Curious if anyone else has one that sits flush and works fine? its a DNX892.

 

Subscribed... I'm contemplating putting an aftermarket head unit in my '08 F-250 to be able to run a backup camera, but, and please don't take offense here, I don't want it to look like that. Are there installations that end up flush, more like the OEM unit?

 

I'm curious also as the wife just bought me a Kenwood dnx572bh. Just waiting on the wiring to arrive before install I sure hope it's flush

 

My truck has the Pioneer AVIC-Z139-BTAndit sticks
out some but when you key off and it powers off the
face will settle to a neural position.

Thought I had a photo of it I could post. But no luck on that.
At least you don't have to ***** sticking out.
