Ordering truck vs getting a good deal
#16
I suppose if you have to have or want specific bells and whistles, then ordering is your best option. I had 3 priorities I needed in the 150, everything else was fluff. It took the dealer 30 minutes to find a few trucks locally meeting my needs. It then came down to color. We haggled on the price and I went home with a new truck with what I needed and a few extras.

Ahh heck... I have fallen. Picked dealer stock. Only thing this truck did not have that I wanted was the tail gate step. After talking with folks that had it, they told me they never used it anyway.(It does have the side steps though) The White looks good on it, but I would have chose Magnetic.

I was content on getting white, but it wasn't available locally with what I needed, so I went with the Ingot Silver. Would have really liked the Blue Jeans, but that was not available either. Color was not as much a priority as needing the SuperCrew, 3.5L EB, 4x4 and Max Tow Pkg.

My truck was the only one within 500 miles.

The 36 gal gas tank would have been nice, I do lots of towing during the race season, and many tracks are between 3-10 hours away. The larger gas tank would have lessened the gas stops. Surprisingly, there were none locally, that also had what we needed. Funny, the last F150 owner I spoke to about the pros & cons of the 150 before I bought, has the identical truck plus the 36 gal tank. I know I'll see him in Oct at our season finale and I'm sure he'll rib me for getting the same truck. I was hoping to hold off till next spring to get one, but our 05 Expedition EB was having a harder and harder time towing 8K, especially thru hilly regions. After our trip to Bowling Green, KY and back, the Expy was ready for retirement. We stopped in at the local Ford dealer, laid out our needs and said if the price was right, we'd do it. Obviously the price was right. Caught them at the right time too, while they were offering a boat load of incentives.

I also opted to not get the tailgate step, and with the side steps, I find I don't really need it.
Nice looking truck BTW!
