Perfect!!

What you have there is a bad fitment between the panel and the frame. This is NOT a problem with the hinge in the video. What happening is that water collects inside the panel (between the top skin and the bottom skin) and this is Bak's design...there's nothing wrong there. However, you're seeing what I saw but on a larger scale.

So, take a bit of exterior water proof silicone (I used clear) and apply a very small bead along each seam where the panel and the frame meet. Smooth it down with a wet finger tip to create an even seal. This is very similar to caulking seams in your bathroom. Once you do that you'll eliminate the ability for the water to weep out of the panel while you're stopped. Once you're moving all of the water will move left or right with motion and collect in the drain channels.

Technically you could apply silicone to the topside, but I don't feel it's necessary. If you wanted to do that however it wouldn't hurt anything but the aesthetics. It would also further prevent a bit of water from seeping down into each panel and your only water intrusion would be at the hinge itself.

This is a $5 fix and about a half hour of your time...and you'll be very pleased from there on out.

Thanks for the help. I was thinking of sealing it but felt doing the bottom would just trap water in. After your explanation and taking a second look I see how it will drain. I will give it a try, it's just a shame that BAC doesn't stand behind their product.

Let me know how that sealing trick works out for you. I've purchased 3 BacFlip folding covers and one rollup cover. My 1st 2 folding covers were great and my third hasn't been. It starting leaking after 2 years (and 80,000) miles.

BacFlip support hung up on me when I called asking if there was some sort of fix I could do for this problem. First they tried to tell me that some leaking was normal. When I told them my previous 2 covers where much better at keeping water out, the guy just hung up on me. Made me wish I didn't order the BacFlip Revolver X2.

All of my BakFlip folding covers pooled some amount of water in the middle. I my current one is the only one that leaks.

My Peragon cover leaks a little and in truth, I expect that it will. It's a multi-panel folding cover relying on rubber material to seal the edges and the panels. If it were a $2000 solid fiberglass over the rail cover and it still leaked then I would be seriously pissed.

If I'm traveling and have some moisture sensitive items with me then I place them in a covered tote. Viola, problem solved. In my mind, that doesn't defeat the purpose. My Peragon is aesthetically pleasing and it provides a great deal of security when my tail gate is locked.

Bakflip should be ashamed for the lack of customer service. I'm sure that other cover manufacturers will benefit from their arrogance.

Bakflip is now a part of the conglomerate making up Truxedo, Extang, Bak and a couple others. Apparently they each have their own customer service though, as my experience with Truxedo's CS department was amazing. I knew right off the bat that I was voiding my warranty with Bak by drilling numerous holes in the front panel so a little bit of silicone for me was a no brainer.

Here's my holes:

I applied the silicone to the back two panels today, I will do the other two tomorrow if all goes well. Then I will try to keep it dry a couple days, so I probably won't be able to check it until the weekend. but I will update you as soon as I give it a test. Thanks

We had some rain today, no big downpours but enough that it would have been leaking. It did leak a small amount around the tailgate seem, but it isn't bad and a small amount is expected. The worst two areas seemed to hold up with no leaks. All in all I'm happy with the fix and I hope it holds up.
It's a shame the people at BAC are jerks and couldn't offer helpful advice, but MCDavis stepped up here. Thanks for the help and I will update you on how well this holds up. I will also touch up some of the seal around the tailgate and see what happens there.
