Super Duty 6.7L Oil Change
Hi Everyone,
I recently purchased a 2015 - F250 King Ranch with the 6.7L and I am now due for my first oil change!
On my 7.3L I bought brand new in 1999, I went with ROTELLA at 7,500mi oil change intervals with no issues on it at all and it now has 300K mi on it.
What brand are some of you using on your 6.7L? Intervals, etc.?
Any thoughts would be appreciated.
Thanks

I ran Rotella T6 5W40 synthetic in my 6.0 and never had any issues. Will run it in my 6.7 once it's broke in.
I'll watch the info center for change interval recommendations but usually did about 7K on my 6.0L.
My truck doesn't get daily miles since I have a company car. Under normal use it'll be a year or more before I get close to 5K miles.
Unless we take another long trip like last year - Houston to Denver and back, over 14 days, with running around while camped mixed in. That one trip was more that half my normal annual mileage.
So a "time period" interval doesn't work for me.

I change when the oil life monitor tells me to.
Also use Valvoline Premium Blue Extreme 5w40. Ran that in my 7.3L for years as it was the one oil I found that held up best back when I had twin HPOP's churning on that motor. All other oils were done at 3,000 miles, the Valvoline held on 5,000-6,000 miles. I was so impressed that I will continue to use it in the new truck.
But that's me. Just about any oil that meets spec will be fine. I just feel like being picky with oil in my truck. If it ain't broke, don't fix it.

Like everyone has said, change it when the truck tells you to (unless of course you really work it, in that case 5000 is in order). That said, I too use the Rotella T6. I have a long catch pan that will catch the drain and the filter at the same time. I slowly open my Fomoto valve, when the head pressure dies off I drill a 3/8 hole in the bottom of the filter to let it drain. Two changes like this and haven't spilled a drop yet.

I used Rotella in the past, but after the first oil change I changed over to Delo 400 15/40 because I could stock up on it at Costco on sale.
Two suggestions:
1. If you do choose to puncture the oil filter and let it drain before removing it. First loosen it a 1/4 to 1/2 turn just to make sure it isn't stuck in place. Noting much worse than punching a hole in the oil filter only to find out you can't get it off.
2. Come join us over on the 6.7 sub-forum here on the website. You can get a lot of information that is more directed to the 6.7 PSD.

It does have a drain plug the fumoto replaces the drain plug you turn the lever oil comes out close the lever and refill no tools no mess. Ive acuactly been meaning to get one before my next oil change I could kill whoever thought it would be a good idea to shoot oil out all over the driveshaft and sway bar when you pull the plug and holding the plug to regulate the flow is B.S. Get the one that you can hook a hose to and direct it into a bucket or empty jug.

Fumoto is the brand name of a company that produces valves for making oil changes easier on the owner (replaces the drain plug).

I'd like one with a nipple to put a hose on, but straight or 90* elbow? I dont have my truck here to go look under so I'm not sure what kind of clearance there is....
Fumoto Engine Oil Drain Valves 2015 6.7L
F106N or F316L ?
What about the LC10 lever lock to keep the valve from getting knocked open? Good idea or unnecessary?
