F250 or F350?

Recently bought a truck and I'm trying to find out towing capacity. The owner's manual that came with the truck only has specs for gas engines and this truck is diesel. Adding to my confusion: It has F350 badges on it, but the VIN reports it as a F250 and I suspect it was a fleet vehicle originally. (White exterior, no carpet) Here is the door sticker.

I've spent a couple of hours looking to see a thread that answers my question, so my apologies if this has been covered elsewhere.

1)Does the VIN on the dash match the door tag? It is pretty easy to swap out a door.

2) Is the front axle TTB/twin I beam (F-250) or a solid axle (F-350)?

F250 or F350 amplifying info

Thanks for the reply.

The VIN on the door and on the dash match.

This is my first truck and don't know much about them yet, so unable to answer your axle questions....but here's a link to some pictures I took today.

Let me know if there is anything else I can do to help you help me.

Your front axle is tge twin I-beam. They're those big metal beams that connect over by the wheel that look like girders for construction. Very different from the rear (solid) axle. The two horizontal tubes with the round thing (differential) in the middle.
So it appears the vin is correct and its an F250.

Give us some specs on your truck.
aka year, trans, gear ratio

Here is a little know factoid. There is ZERO different between the 2wd f250 and F350, other than what ford rates them for. SAME frame, rear springs, front springs, axles, brakes, etc

Did they use different sized blocks in the rear, like in the 4x4s?

DIY

I do know my way around a car a bit. I've rebuilt a few engines, but by no means an expert. First Generation Camaros and Subarus are more in my wheelhouse. So while I may know a power steering pump from a compressor, I'm not too familiar with Ford trucks. My knowledge is limited to what I've researched and wrenched.

its a 2wd truck,so you can just call it an f350 if ya want.

i converted my 4wd f250 to a dually (and kept the front d50) and put f350 emblems on it as i thought it looks more correct now.

EDIT:
lmao! i dunno whats wrong with that decoder but she's not a CHINA truck lol! she was born in JEFFERSON COUNTY, KY according to another decoder..........oh it shows correctly up the top of this one too anyway.

Ok.

So you have a 96 f250 crewcab Short bed, Powerstoke, Auto, 3.55 gears

I don't have the book in front of me so going by memory it has a GCVW of 16-18k

And technically it is NOT a F350 they have a 9200lb GVW, you only have a 8800lb no matter what emblems you put on the truck
