Want a diesel

I am wanting a diesel truck, want an 05- 07 f250, but I have found a nice 02 with low mileage on 7.3. Which way would you lean on this desicion?

It would all depend on price and condition. Where are you located? Are you in an area that sees snow? Older trucks often have rust problems after a few years up north, and I would be very cautious about spending too much for a rusted out truck.

What are the specifics on the '02 you're looking at?

The 7.3 is an old school workhorse, no doubt. Just not the most powerful or quickest in stock form.

The 6.0 is stronger but has it's issues if abused. It can be made bulletproof and strong though. And with the proper mods can be really quick.

The 05-07 truck will be more modern and may have more creature comforts. And maybe the integrated trailer brake controller which is much better than add-on stuff for the older trucks.

If it was me, I'd look for a low mile 07. Unless the 7.3 was super clean, low mile and a great deal.

Sure you can. People overpay for 7.3L trucks every single day! No amount of reputation can erase the fact that the absolute newest 7.3s are 13 years old. Wise buyers open their wallets accordingly.

Yikes! You can buy a much newer 6.7L truck for that much! RUN AWAY! RUN FAR, FAR AWAY!!!

See if this link works. These are all 2011-present 6.7L trucks for less than $23,000.

Used Ford F350 - in 55101 Area - on Cars.com

They have a cult like following! lol

Good engines, but there are better options out there these days.

Like others have stated.... they are 13+ years old. Even in the best condition, lowest miles, they are still getting old. All the rubber, plastics, wires, seals, etc.... 13+ years old.

Had a 6.0, no thanks. I would buy anything but an '03-'07 6.0 psd. Just my opinion.....

I paid 3000 for my 01' 7.3 w 180000 on it.

Once bullet proofed the 6.0 is a good truck. That said, i love the simplicity of the 7.3 as well as its reliability. But 23000 is way to much unless the truck is immaculate, lifted, decked out w all kinds of mods, and has some sort of built transmission on it. I mean show truck status.

Personally i dont want a diesel with emissions bs or any added unnecessary additions mandated by the epa. So 6.0 is or anything newer is off the table for me. I love my 7.3, sure its older, but im willing to and will soon be updating it cosmetically both in and out. When i got it the first words out of my girls mouth on her first ride in it was "this truck is manly!!" Lol

$23K too much. If you like the truck make an offer though.
