2012 Escape Oil Life - Purely time/miles based?
I think I forgot to reset the oil life indicator at my last oil change, however I am not 100% positive.
Is the oil change indicator purely based on time/miles driven, or does it have any sort of sensors that actually detect issues with the oil?
I've heard some vehicles do actually do basic checks rather than purely being time/mileage based.
Anyway, I am no where near the miles or time interval from the previous oil change so if there aren't any magical sensors I'll just reset the life.
Thanks.

there is a algorithum in the computer that compares mileage and warm up to figure the correct time to change. I just go by mileage due to the fact that I am up and down hills and really are severe duty. if u just change not long ago, say less than 500 miles I would just reset and go from there. if longer just go by months or guess on mileage. there are no sensors in oil or engine to tell oil wear, ect.

Thanks, that's what I needed to know. It was changed about 2.5k miles ago. I change it every 5k regardless of what the life indicator claims (and drive more than enough miles per year to not wait for the 3+ month interval)
Thanks.
Thanks.
