Pics of your F-1

Hello, I'm fairly knew to this forum, I'm having a little trouble finding things with the search option. I am building a 1948 F--1 ratrod/hotrod and would like to see pics of other similar trucks and get wheel and tire dimensions. I'm looking in getting a fat whitewall tire but wide in the rear and don't know what size I can get, any help, pics or link I can go to will be greatly appreciated. Thankyou.

Welcome. Big difference between a hot rod and a rat rod. Check out KillBillet.com for rat rod info. The HAMB is mostly rodders and the Ford Barn is more stock oriented. FTE is somewhere between stock and resto-mod, just civil and helpful.

The large Search box at the top of the page is worthless. There is an Advanced Search feature in a drop-down that allows you to filter results to posts in this sub-forum (48 - 56) and use keywords. Google search works pretty well too.

Hey Lossleeper,
Welcome Aboard! Nice looking truck!

I'll include a pic of our '50 F1 - it's more cleaned up than the look
you are going for but the set up might help. We are running a Mustang II IFS
up front & a 2001 Explorer 8.8 in. rear axle. That dictated what we could do with tires/wheels.
We wanted to go as large as possible & we overshot up front & had to replace our front tires
with a smaller size due to rubbing on dips/corners. I would go with a more traditional baby moon look
but I share this truck with my 23 year old son & he wanted these low profile tires & rims.

Looking good up there in Dallas! (What Engine/Trans are you going with?)

Hi there and welcome to the site. I like your truck, and personally I wouldn't consider it a Rat Rod, its more a resto mod a lot like mine. You asked for wheel pics so heres mine. The rears are P295/50R15 on 10"smoothies I had made by "Stockton Wheel" I believe the backspacing was 5 1/2"s. The fronts are P205/60R15 mounted on 7' Craigers. My suspension is stock in the rear, and other than reverse eye leaf springs on the front it is stock to. Im not one that knows about sourcing white wall tires, but at least you can see how my size tires look. I like the look of the 60s, larger tires in the back and smaller tires in the front to give the truck a little rake. Or attitude if you will. Have fun with your truck, I really enjoy working on mine, and driving it is just "TOO COOL FOR SCHOOL"

Welcome to FTE. Looks like your truck is lower than stock already. What suspension are you running ? I would suggest Coker tire for wide whites. But, I wouldn't worry about that right away. Get the truck running well and safe, do what mods you want and then worry about tires.. lots to do before that. Got a good base to start with. Don't worry about stupid questions, we love them. Here's mine. I'm running 235/75R15 on the rear and 205/75R15 on the front. Wheels are chrome smoothie's, the rear is reversed. Mustang front end and rear axle above the rear leaf springs. Hey Ben, hauling a riding mower in your beautiful truck ! Shocking !!

Welcome to FTE. Like most of the others my 48 is no trailer queen, it's out of the garage three to four times a week. I stayed with the stock axle and put Posie springs all the way around. The wheels are Crager SS's and the rear end is a Ford 9".

I don't have a trailer, but I treat whitey like a King. No manual labor for this toy. I have a Tundra for that stuff. I drive him a few days a week in dry weather only. It's my toy, I can play with it however I want.
Chuckrob, beautiful truck, I love the color, what is it ? Diggin the five spokes too.

ChuckRob, what are the tire sizes on your truck? I really like the stance of your truck, and the tires are pleasingly proportioned, IMO.

Zoot, the color is Porsche Iris Blue

TonyB, The tire and wheel sizes are:
The rears are P275/60/15 on a 15x8 wheel
The fronts are P245/60/15 on a 15x7 wheel

Awesome truck, I use to have low profile tires on some 18s back in 2001, but truck got stolen from and stripped down completely, and it was a father and son project at the time as well, now my dad just watches me work on it,lol. But I have my 5yr old and he loves it. I just started to work on it again last year, my father in law gave me a 350/turbo350 so I went with that to keep costs low on the build. I just got it running a couple of weeks ago and now fixing all the bugs in it.
