2000 F350 Front End Vibration?

2000 F350. 4x4, V10. 153,xxx miles. Here's the story. Whenever I hit a little bump in the road, I get a vibration directly under my feet and in the gas pedal, NOT in the steering. It will go away pretty quick or when I hit another bump. It only happens when the front driveshaft is not spinning. Hubs locked in in 2WD, it doesn't vibrate. Hubs unlocked and in 4x4 High it doesn't vibrate. Anybody had similar issues? Thanks.

Initial guess is maybe a transmission/transfer case/motor mount issue. Also, what about a shock/tower mount??

i do not know if this will help or not, i had a 2000 f350 with v10 as well and i would get same issue as stated, so i changed shocks and everything was checked including transfer case. a few months went by and it was time to change brakes and rotors and when i changed those out i never had issue again.
i do not know if this is helpful or not but it was same issue i was having

I plan on doing brakes here soon, I noticed a clanking near the front right, don't know if they're related or not. I believe my right front caliper is warped, as whenever I brake the truck pulls slightly to the right. I'll see if this is the problem, thanks

Check ball joints, it sounds like your close to getting the death wobbles. If you can feel it at your feet and here almost a knocking sound on the floor board it will most likely be the ball joints. There are ways to check for them but do a lil more research and youtube searches on checking ***** joints and im sure you can figure it out. Good luck.

Will these trucks get the full on death wobble with the leaf springs in the front? I agree on the bad ball joints or even a failed unit bearing. Only reason you don't feel it in the steering wheel is it's not doing it bad enough to cause bump steer ... or in the case of my Jeep, the steering shaft is so far gone it doesn't make it all the way back to the steering wheel.

I guess some wouldnt call it the death wobbles but to me anything that can cuase my front end to shake uncontrollably after hitting a small bump at 30ish MPH is the death wobbles. Iv had ball joints go out and seen them completely fault and the entire wheel assimbly snapp off the truck. Ball joints are strong for the most part but when they fault out its bad jew jew. Best not to let them get to that point and change them out or at least keep them lubbed up till you can get it fixed.

I with you M on the steering thing, it would be showing other symptoms with steering components going out. Not saying you shouldnt prolly check those as well while your at it. Its a 2000 350model i gurantee your have some steering issues. Hell just overhaul the entire front end. After parts and if you dont have all the tools to do it your self and having to rent from the auto store it will cost you around about $1200ish for a complete over haul not including shocks. I piced all the same parts a few months ago for my V10 and it came out to right about 1k for the front end.

Is there a way to temporarily lube the upper and lower ball joints? Still have the factory ball joints (01 4x4) but the problem is the heads have flaked off of the bolts that hold the unit bearings. So I can't get the unit bearings off to replace the ball joints and u joints.

Luckily the truck doesn't get driven much - has been sitting since may.
