I'm sure the frame shortage and resulting production delays hurt a lot peoples' sales last year. I think the 8' bed sells more than many people might think. Granted, the shorter beds sell more among home owners who typically only use their trucks for commuter use and weekend hauling duty. The 8 footers sell much better among people who really use their trucks for heavy use, commercial sales included. I wonder if Ford took that for granted approaching 2015 production. Did you ever find out the reason for the frame shortage? Was it anything that could be helped?

The supplier over-promised to win the contract from what I understand. Then they just decided if they weren't going to have enough it was going to be the less profitable XL RC 8' beds that would get scrapped.

Even a corporate giant such as Ford can only do so much with crappy suppliers. Yeah, obviously this isn't entirely Ford's fault. Although it sounds to me like they could have kept in better communication with people who had placed an order in early 2015, and who weren't going to get their trucks until 2016. I know if I was one of those customers, I would be a lot more understanding and forgiving if Ford had been honest and told me that it's a supplier/vendor issue. Maybe take another thousand or two off the price of the truck when it does come in, I'll be happy. If I was in a position where I couldn't wait that long, then I would cancel my order and find something else.

The only folks who sometimes get anything are state ordered vehicles. Sometimes Ford will extend the previous model year pricing for the same model if the cut off happened mid year or something. Ford won't even do that for the big fleets. It's a rare situation when a vehicle gets ordered before balance out but not produced. Tiny percentages. Just as I've ordered from non-automotive companies before and sometimes they take money order and my money and then down the road I get a call that its an out of stock piece. Sure it's frustrating, but they don't burn the midnight oil on my behalf.

Like everything else, there are 100 perspectives and most of them are right. You're only delusional when you think yours is the only one.

Congrats ... thats going to be beautiful!!

Blue Jeans was my #2 choice (got Ruby Red) as they had one with a 2.7L but 501A. Was about $6k less, but the siren song of 502A and the 3.5L was just too tempting!!

Cheers!!

I wouldn't be able to communicate how much I contemplated colors these last couple months; one minute it's Tuxedo Black, seconds later Ingot Silver, solid Blue Jean, Black Two Tone and so on... Blue Jean Two Tone it is. I really like it.

The dealer said 6 weeks? Production schedule is 14-16 week turnaround at the moment.

And, your build date is set on one day and the delivery is 2 weeks after that.

I ordered mine Wednesday, I do not anticipate delivery until March, I do not even anticipate being assigned a VIN until late December, beginning of January.

Very nice truck and color combination. How come you chose the reg axle 3.31 instead of the locking 3.31?

I have had an invoice and VIN for quite a while. I ordered it the day Ford opened to accept '16 orders. I was told it would be bucked in 2 weeks after the order. It will be worth the wait I am sure. The holidays may mess things up too.
