Of all the Count's rides, that 54 is the only one I would want.

I wouldn't mind having the "GTO" if they were giving it away. But only if they were giving it away, Right!

He has some cool rides, if you get past the overdone flame / skull paint images, the velour interiors, and the insistence that the 70's were a golden age of automotive styling.

He often drives the 54 on the show while out "searching" for builds. He has more than a couple of vehicles in his personal collection he could give me as a present. Yes quite a few are way overdone, especially if Mike has a hand in the finishing. but the shop seemsto do nice work, not like gas monkey and most of the rest of the reality TV builders.

I like that 54, except I'm pretty sure it has a sbc under the hood. It seems like most of the classic Fords his shop builds get a sbc.

Yep, there is a very well known local builder here in the Houston area named Bobby Mize. He does beautiful work, really nice cars and trucks. He almost always puts SBC in the builds. They are cheaper and his clients always want cheaper. He is a Ford man himself but the market rules...

BTW, I wouldn't mind having the GTO either. My brother had one many years ago and one day (about 1970) I had to drive a friend to the hospital in an emergency. We got there in a hurry! Halfway there a cop stopped me briefly after I carefully went around some cars stopped at a red light, and he ended up escorting us the rest of the way... Good memories of the GTO and my friend getting to the hospital on time and surviving!

Just because something is cheaper doesn't mean it's better!

Agreed, but just saying sometimes money does rule. My truck already had a SBC so I spent the my budget on the rest of the truck. Someday, when I get richer, I plan on changing it out with a brand new EFI SBF.

(it pains me to say) My first thought was that today the situation might turn out quite different.
