Electronic Ignition

I understand your desire to save a few bucks. However, most of the used parts are somewhat unreliable. Wires are brittle, connectors are broken and corroded, modules are iffy. All told, it makes for an unreliable ignition system.
Rock Auto, as well as others, sell all the new parts necessary to make your own. You can make your own harness, the connectors are new and available. When finished, it will cost a little more, but when you are done, it will be reliable. You will also save the time it would take to find used parts.
There are premade harnesses available: Painless Performance Duraspark II Distributor Wiring Harnesses 30812 , about $150.
If you look for parts for a 1979 Ford F100 with a 4.9 motor, you can find the parts needed.
Best of luck to you, however you chose to get where you want to be.,...jack
One more thing: The correct ignition module should have a blue strain relief where the wires come out of it.
