Should I wait until the filter minder tells me to?

Should I wait until the filter minder tells me to?
I have the Ford AIS on my truck. I glance at my filter minder when I go under the hood it's always been ok and I have never seen the dash indicator on.
I dated the side of the filter with a sharpie when I changed it last and when I pulled it today it was 3-22-13.
My operating conditions are as follows.
Little to no towing.
50/50 Highway/City
No dirt road or dusty conditions
10K miles per year
Thanks in advance for your input.

Exactly.
To the OP, you're barely driving your truck. Takes a lot of miles to fill that filter up.
Actually..... yes they are.
Depending on the filter of course.
They are very accurate with stock filters. And with certain aftermarket ones they work pretty well.
My 7.3L had the AFE Stage II intake with a sock over the filter. The filter minder was very good about pegging out when that sock was dirty. It got to the point I could predict the mileage when it would light up the dash, and it was dead on when it needed cleaning.
Your experience may differ, but the filter minder worked perfect for me.

Under filter cartridge - no biggie. Above filter cartridge - disaster.
My AIS (stock truck with tuner) would suck in its gut at 20,000 miles in a dusty environment. That was once per year when I owned the AIS.
