What oil do you use?

I run 10w30 diesel oil, 1995 460.
just concerned about the flat lifters.
Currently Rotella T5. But I'm not a brand snob, I'll run just about any good deal.
always run MC filters.
change the oil once a year. Whatever the mileage happens to be.
My other ride gets whatever the dealer puts in when the computer says to go.. if it blows up it's their problem.

Using synthetic gives me that warm and fuzzy feeling inside, even though it's not really necessary for my purposes. I'm not brand loyal at all with oil; I will use whatever is cheapest/on sale. Which is usually Napa store brand. When it goes on sale, I grab a case and that lasts a while. I use 5w30, which is what Ford orignally specified for my engine. No reason to deviate from it.

I run Walmart's SuperTech conventional 10W-30 in my truck's engine. It's got the API ratings and is usually the cheapest around so I don't mind not paying for a brand name. Never lost an engine due to oil problems yet. Actually my engines stay nice and clean inside.
Transmission, transfer case, steering all get SuperTech Mercon, brakes get whatever brand of brake fluid I happen to grab when I'm at the store. Usually WearEver or SuperTech, same deal with the axles.
Motorcraft filters for EVERYTHING, no exceptions.
Never had a problem with anything oil-related in all the years I've been buying non-brand-name lube. The ones I DON'T trust are the random bottles of oil you can find on the shelf at gas stations with names like RPMax or whatever.

WOW an oil thread without all the bickering.
Similar question for both of you, why 15W40? With synthetics I see no reason for the higher cold viscosity.
Me, 5W40 Rotella T6 all year in both my 460 and 7.3.

Unheard of, ain't it? One reason I like this board better than any other is that most if us are willing to have a meaningful discussion rather than constant arguing.
Honestly I'm surprised nobody laughed at me for using SuperTech brand.
It's made by Mobil according to my research and has API certs so I ain't worried.
That's actually common in some industries. Instead of changing the oil at a set interval they just take a sample and have it analyzed for contaminants and breakdown. If it's all good then they run with it til the next sample.
I wouldn't mind doing that except I doubt the cost of having the oil analyzed is any cheaper than just buying 5 quarts of fresh oil for the engine. Now 14 (or however many) quarts of Mercon on the other hand... that I can see possibly being cheaper.
