Obsolescence of Excursion Parts

It has been about half a year since I sold my Excursion but I still really enjoy lurking and commenting with whatever knowledge that I can contribute; from this lurking, it seems like a bunch of parts are now becoming obsolete.

Aside from the dwindling supply of body mounts and rear quarter windows, is there anything else that others have had a hard time sourcing? Being that nearly everything from the b-pillar back is bespoke to the Excursion, I'd imagine that a lot of parts will become difficult to find.

Seems like maintaining an Excursion is going to start becoming harder than it once was unfortunately

Within the next 4-5 years any roadable/driveable EX will appreciate in value as something similar to 'YearOne' will source parts as eliminates inventory of parts.

Short-term challenges will produce long-term gains, IMHO.

One could only hope. The fact that parts are becoming hard to get will make it less attractive for people to buy one. I think the gas prices will be a bigger influence.

I'm still having luck finding Ex's in the 'pick-a-part' style lots, but I can see that drying up in the next few years.

I've been seriously considering switching to a newer Tahoe for this reason.

I am sure there is still a steady supply of wrecked ex's or people running ex's without oil..lol

I told my wife a month ago that we needed to start looking for a similar Ex to buy to have for 'spares' as things become obsolete.
Her sage insight? "With your luck, if something breaks, it'll be bad on the spare truck too."
Probably true...

I started a couple years back, I have body mounts, new dash in black, blinker lever, light switch, door actuator and replacement window/lock switches for all 4 doors.

Maybe we can talk everyone's favorite boyfriend over at CABT to stop cutting up good ones for parts.

That's a really good idea. Especially the blinker lever.

Yep, although some of that stuff is the same as the trucks, so the support may be better for them.
I am also thinkin' things like the rear cargo pop-out side windows and motors, rear hatch latch parts.

seems like anything interior in Medium Parchment no longer exists for a 2000. I had to get a seatbelt bracket cover for an 05, if I wanted the 2000 it would've been blue. Took me 3 months to find a steering wheel.

As others have said, hopefully the aftermarket steps up to the plate.

I'm certain they will if we create a need; I just fear they'll all be plastic/paper parts sourced from the east.

Most likely what will happen.
