2016 f350 dump truck with 6.2 gas

this week i finally got my new dump truck i ordered, it is a 350 with 10 ft dump body, 6.2 gas with 430 gears.
i would give my thoughts since i almost have 500 miles on it in 3 days, i put it to work when i drove it of lot monday.
To be honest i did not know what you excpect as far as power goes but it has more power than i thought it would! to me it feels like my 94 fsuper duty with 460 with more speed to it! it is a strong engine, i have read that this is a high reving engine but mine does not rev high, it seems at 4k it is it which is ok by me.
The 6.2 to me feels like a refined 460 and as far as mpg it is getting 10 which i figured it would be around 8mpg so 2 extra is a good thing.
i like the tranny and how it adapts to things.
one funny thing about this truck is that it sounds just like a muscle car! i have never know a cab and chassis truck to sound like that and it gets people looking when i go by lol.

people are shocked i did not go with a power stroke, but for utility i felt this was best choice, i love a power stroke i own a king ranch dually with powe r stroke as well! now this engine will not come close to a power stroke as far as pulling power but it is not a weak engine, it is a very stout engine!
i am very happy so far,

Good stuff, thanks for posting.

I have to wonder if the stock software for your truck is significantly different from a more typically F250/F350 pickup truck. As yours was obviously built and bought for actual WORK (since it has the dump bed), maybe it's not tuned to be quite so "soft" from the factory?

What kind of material/weight are you usually hauling in the bed of that thing anyway?

i am not sure, i have been told it is a detuned 6.2 then another person says that is not true they only rate commercial truck at 4100rpms vs others a 385hp at 5500.
i own a construction business i haul gravel, lumber tools or what is needed. what is funny is right beside it i have a 1994 f super duty with 460 dump truck which still keeps going.
these new cab and chassis trucks are built like a tank, it says 350 on side but it hauls like a 550 or like my f super duty which was a 450 back in the day.
i am guess software is different because about 4000 is wide open, it will not do like you see people do on videos turning 6k, it will not do it. but it has a ton of tq at bottom end, nothing much after 70 because it is geared so low but it feels like a refined 460.
as far as in the seat of the pants feel when i am driving my king ranch powerstroke, then get in new dump truck i am saying wow for a gas engine it has alot of tq at bottom end. i hope more people post about 6.2 for work, i have 2 diesel trucks and 3 gas trucks
i will admit diesel are my fav engines but i cannot deny how good gas engines are, my f fsuper duty with 460 has over 400 k miles and still does not burn oil!
if everyone is wondering this truck has a double a dump body with tool boxes,4wd chrome simulators heavy service pkg, and everything out the door was $45k

I'm wondering of they govern the motor because of what it is but I very rarely go over 4K rpm when pulling my 26K trailer so I wouldn't worry about it. One way to look at it your employees can't run it near as hard.

You have a 13900 gvwr so it will take a good load and I think the cab chassis over loar springs come on faster than the standard truck like mine, I also have the 13900 option.

The 4.30 gears give you a lot of low end grunt
