When I fill up gas, my instrument panel gas indicator typically says 305 or 310 miles til E. When I filled up the other day it said 418 miles to E. I was like what the hell. That means I would be getting a like 15 mpg., which is impossible. Has anyone ever seen this happen before?
It calculates the mileage to empty using whatever the latest MPG it has calculated. If you reset it and coast down a hill to get an unusually high MPG reading, you will also see the MTE estimate rise.
I used to watch what mine was indicating until i used real numbers. Now, i dont look at it until i fuel up and see how far off the computor is to the odometer and gas pump. What a difference.
