Question 1978 F100 4x4 Dana 44 Spindle Gasket

Hi,
I managed to lose one of the gaskets (drivers side) that goes between the steering knuckle and the spindle. I have looked at diagrams and do not see this gasket. Is this gasket necessary?

Thanks,

No, it doesn't seal anything on an open knuckle axle. I think they put it in there to keep the spindle from rusting to the knuckle

In that case, brush the mating surfaces liberally with anti-seize.
