Dog House Latch Catch

The part molded into the actual dog house that hangs down and the latch catches on is worn/chipped off so the door will not stay closed. The latch mechanism on the door appears to be replaceable, but there is no adjustment.

Anyone have any repair ideas ?

I know what you mean. I think. Is it the storage bin on top of the doghouse? If so you can replace it with a new style one with open and closed storage.

Here is one I got from an '01 Traveler. I assume you had the same style as my old one. The old one would be shallower and have a large offset door, with an air bag sticker on it.

I looked at fordparts.com and it was $330 for a new one if they could even find one. I got this one for $20 at the local junkyard.

The door latch is not serviceable. Officially. However I am sure that it can be MacGyver'd lol.

To remove the storage area look underneath for a metal tang. Pull back on the tang and lift up. This will release it from the doghouse. With it removed it will be easier to work on.

Don't assume everyone has their thread display preferences set alike----I myself get tired of reading the same signatures over and over here. Its just good practice to describe your vehicle in the body of your question if that's pertinent to helping you.

98Eco150 has this correct---the little latches aren't repairable or replaceable separately. The "drink tray" can be easily found on eBay, nearly new with minor marks etc often times for $30 or so.

Be careful to watch shipping costs----some try gouging us for things like this.
