Some pics of progress along the way! Massive changes from original plan! Having all the frame and welding work done at a local shop!

I like it. The PATs uses the stock instrument cluster so I think you might be better off deleting it with a tune.

Got the motor all pulled out.

I'll have to look into the cluster, I have that as well... Got to find a new driver side valve cover tho as that got cracked in the accident.

Got a pretty good chunk of work done. What are you doing with the Cobra chassis?

When you search for a valve cover search for the "C" head cover. Those are the only covers with provisions to bolt the coil pack to. 1998 and earlier DOHC were all B head with plug wires.

I used the Canton relocation adapter

http://www.summitracing.com/parts/ctr-22-929/overview/

That is the whole kit which is pretty nice but I built mine for a lot less.

I used -10AN/JIC fittings. 4 NPT to AN adapters, 2 strait AN hose ends 2 90 degree AN hose ends, perma-cool filter mount with an FL-1A Motorcraft filter. Stock 4.6L filters have a 22mm thread and the FL-1A filters (used on the 302s/5.0s) are a much smaller thread size. I ran my hoses strait from the oil filter adapter past the radiator support. I mounted the oil filter on its side in front of the radiator

Where in NorCal are you? I'm also in NorCal and have a '51 F1. Can't work outside yet where I live, the heat and smoke is too much still. Also, is that gray and black truck a F5? Looks like a fun project you've got going.

Thanks for the tip on the filter relocation I'll check that out. I'm sure I'll have more questions for you as the time comes!

I would stick with the camaro subframe. Truck will handle great and there are plenty of aftermarket suspension, brake, and steering systems for it if you wanted to upgrade.

How does the subframe graft look? If it's structurally sound and tracks straight, I would leave it. I have a late 70's Camaro subframe on my F1 that I've driven for 9 years. It handles fantastic!
On mine, the P.O. Did a pretty crude job of the frame splice, but it was so overbuilt that it would never fail. I'm in the process of cleaning up the graft, to make it more ascetically pleasing to me.
Like Dave said, there are lots of suspension upgrades available for it, if you want.
For $150, I'd be tempted to grab that other frame, too. Especially if he has a title for it.
BTW, do you have a clear title for your project truck?
Good luck, and have fun!

Yes, a frame is only as good as it's title. The number stamped on the frame is the legal identifier. If you swap the rest of your parts onto the new frame the entire truck becomes whatever that frame's number says it is. Each state is different, but almost all are cracking down on matching paperwork. Note the CV front IFS is way too wide for the F1 frame and narrowing it is expensive IF you can even find someone willing to do it, and questionable as to how it will affect the geometry. There are a couple people attempting it on here but AFAIK no one has actually completed one and road tested it.
In my dictionary "I want to make it all Ford" translates to "I have way deep pockets and looking for ways to spend it". To each their own.
Are you planning on using bucket seats? The T56 shifter will be under the seat otherwise.
We are currently putting a 2007 Mustang GT 4.6 3V and 3650 5 speed in my friend Gary's F1. I have a T56 in my 56 panel.
