302/5.0 header question

Sorry to start a new thread with this but I cannot figure out how to search using the Garagetalk app. I am sure the answer is already here.

I have a 302 in a 70 f100 2wd. The exhaust manifolds are really old and I want to put on some headers. There are a bunch on CL for 5.0 mustangs. Can someone confirm they all will pretty much interchange? I'm just looking at shorty headers for ease in replacing. Anything to worry about (besides breaking studs in the head)?

Thanks.

Any 5.0/302 header will bolt to the motor but you want a truck header for the best overall fit, car headers may cause clearance issues with the frame and/or firewall.

Also avoid all equal length shorty headers.

As long as they are short tube and hug the block, they should work. I have a pair waiting to go on my truck. They aren't any longer than the stock manifolds.

I believe the frames are same from 65 thru 79? I am faced with same set of circumstances. the 65 F100, with the 70 Torino 302, and T18 currently has a set of Hooker Long Tube headers that need to be replaced. In my case, did not feel there was sufficient clearance between the collector flange, where the exhaust system meet at the passenger side cross member so rather than trim a small amount of material from the flange mount I decided to remove material from the cross member? Another issue, had to lift the engine slightly to insert passenger side header. It was not a labor intensive task, otherwise the installation was not that difficult; however, should you decide to go with the shorties I would be interested on your take, I may want to consider going that route.

Thanks for the replies. I got the stock manifold fixed enough to hold while I am searching for some on CL. I'll post back if/when I ever find some and get them installed.
