6.7 vs 6.2

Whyon earth would one get a gas supwerduty vs the powerstroke? I honestly don't understand any benefit? The loaner vehicle is a gas and it's awful imo. and gas mileage is even worse...it's avg. 5.5

I foresee a long debate here, you can use the search and find many gas vs. diesel discussions. For me the short answer is $$$, the longer one includes personal needs and wants.

I had a 2000 DRW with 7.3 diesel that was awesome, and the new 6.7 diesel is a fine engine. However, when I bought my current 2005 V10 the engine was a $510 option while the diesel was over $5,500 more. At the time diesel fuel was significantly more per gallon than gas so my total fuel cost was much less getting fewer mpg's with less expensive fuel.

If I consistently needed the low end grunt of a diesel, I would have one in a heartbeat but the larger gas engines suffice well for a lot of hard work.

The beauty of super duty trucks is that there are many configurations that each work well for our widely varied needs and wants.

For my current needs, I want nothing other than my big gas-guzzling engine with crew cab and real 8 foot pickup bed (with ARE topper)- that is why I still have the same truck after 11 years.

If someone else has something different, they are not stupid, they just have different needs, wants, and budget.

Here are some:
Ford Truck Enthusiasts Forums - Search Results

There would not be so many of each working hard every day if they weren't both viable options in various situations.

This is funny because your driving a gasser because it sounds like your diesel has to stay overnight for repairs.

That's funny right there!!!!

All the above answers are spot on

Well if we're playing stereotypes would anyone buy a diesel? They're loud toys for tools in flat billed hats and white Oakleys to put massive lifts under and belch black smoke around the mall parking lot, crawling their curbs and running $3k of mud tires on bling rims that will never see dirt. Old farts can buy little underpowered gassers to putt around in, shaking their liver spotted fists at the kids and their damned toys Besides, have you seen parts prices on Model A's lately?

There's no way it's averaging 5.5 mpg unless you reset it while driving up a hill with a load in the back then let it idle for 10 minutes.
