Anybody had to replace one of these...?


I noticed some oil on the ground yesterday. After investigating, my dipstick tube was broken, right at the mount top side. I was able to get a decent oil check, had only dropped a quart but, was a little shocked to see this broke.


Ordered one, & pick it up today. Was looking for any advice if anyone has had to replace this on our trucks. Doesn't look incredibly difficult, although, definitely looks like a tight squeeze.....

 

Funny I was just going to post this question.....I was trying to replace mine and found on the web to use vise grips and a hammer and I have had no luck, that thing is stuck in there!!!


Anyone?

 

Wasn't as bad as I anticipated. I got mine out by wiggling it some, & then a long set of needle nose used to "wedge it out" so to speak. That was by far the hardest part of the process.


Fishing to new tube in well...... lets just say it only goes one way..lol. total job time, having never had to do this before, about 1 hour.

 

Whats the secret? Does it come straight up? I fought with mine for an hour and still can't get it out!
