I might get a chance to drive the F350 KR dually later in the week. But right now I'm thinking that I shouldn't sell off my F150 to buy a SD. I have an older K1500 that I should sell off once the F150 is paid off in a couple of years.

I have the 6.2L F250 with the 373 gears. I do agree compared to my F150 the F250 feels slower. After driving the F250 around for awhile I am now used to the performance and am perfectly happy with it. The F250 does handle the tongue load better. When I towed a 7000lbs toy hauler I didn't bother to use the frame equalizing hitch. It tow just fine.

My 6.2L F250 weights 1200lbs more than my 5L F150 did. It kind of explains why its not as snappy. I definitely notice an increase in low end torque with the 6.2L. I dunno, every 3/4 ton or 1 ton truck I have ever driven always had that truck feel too them, where as the 150 has a bit more of an all around feel, more peppy, less brute.

I like my Brute!

I wouldn't make that trade.

The F150 is two thousand pounds lighter than an equivalent Super Duty, and the 6.2 doesn't make much more power than the 5.0L you have in your F150. I was never happy with the sacrifices you make for the heavier chassis, as I never towed enough to justify that. I've had 16,000 lbs behind my '13 F150 and was very happy with how it handled, there's no way I'd buy more truck for the occasional 10,000 lb tow as long as you're properly setup.

Get the f250. More capable truck. The 6.2 is a great motor!

Thanks for all the input

I've decided to stay with the F150 since I don't do a lot of towing. It will be the extra K1500 that gets sent down the line and replaced with a heavier truck in a few years.

Pretty much on track what I was going to say for the most part. When I bought though, used F150s were more coin than Super Duties. I could get more truck for less money. However you are dead on with engine specs. The 5.0 is just about on par with the 6.2 spec wise. The 5.0 has less mass to move in the F150 as well as itself. The 6.2 is more of an everyday motor for the Super Duty IMO. It's got descent power but not knock you into your seat power. The 5.0 with a turbo could be a good option for the SD when the times comes.

Awesome! That is probably the best direction for now. Remember things always are changing. Who knows what will happen in the future. You might be able to have a 5.0 turboed V8 in a 2020 Super Duty.

sounds like you've decided, but curious if you ever considered the F150 with the 6.2?

there are two ways to get the "Max Tow" package in the f150. one is the 3.5L ecoboost, the other way is the 6.2.

might be hard to find, but the 6.2 was available all the way down to the XLT package from 2012 and up. IIRC, 2011 required lariat and up to get the big v8.

the v-10 is good, i have a 2006 250 with 430 gears, but to be honest my 6.2 with 430 geras pulls better than my v-10. the 5.0 is screamer of a engine , i have it my my 2015 mustang, the 6.2 reminds me of a refined 460

WoW! The engine debate war continues! No Engine will escape scrutiny this week!

+1 for the 6.2 SOHC iron block w/ 4.30s

The 5.0 coyote is more of a car engine. DOHC alloy block

The 5.2 flat plane crank engine in the Shelby makes me want another Mustang. The 6.2 motor is a good fit in the Super Duty.

when i bought my 2015 mustang i was told it was underated very bad which i agree, but my car has a few goodies on it form ford with ford racing headers, exaust, tune and cai,it is fun having 500hp in a stang, it out runs my srt8 charger 392.
i agree the 5.0 motor is great for mustang, i do not see it being a hard puller in a truck, just like the hemi engines, they are a beast in a car, put them in a truck and you have to keep them pegged when pulling. what i like about a 5.0 motor it is easy to get 500hp from simple bolts ons and tune, and you can build them motors like crazy.

Most who actually have them in trucks would disagree with you.

i am not bashing the 5.0 gas, i love the engine, if not a ecoboost i would get 5.0 in a f150, but i would not be towing 10k with it even with ecoboost, when i started geting to 10k then i would get a super duty. i like a dually because it is safe and stable

I was going to buy a 2015 F150 Screw 4X4 5.0 to replace my 2001 F150. After seeing the price and how cheaply made some of the parts are made, I found I could get an F250 Larait 6.2 SCREW 4X4 for the same exact price. After looking the F250 over and noticing it is still made like a truck should be, I was sold. Getting my F250 ordered soon.
Been an F150 fan for the past 20 years but Ford really screwed up on the 2015. The aluminum body is a great idea, but the rest of the truck is slop.
