The building of "Babe the Blue Ox"
#918
So, Glenn..... sounds like the Ox is doing as we all hoped she would... Great to hear it! I just returned home a couple hours ago from my yearly fall camping/fishing trip. Spent 9 nights in the 5er. (Man we love that thing!) Went trout fishing 8 mornings in a row. The freezer in the 5er was full of trout on the trip home. Great times! The OBS has pulled the new 5er over 2500 miles since we bought it in June. It does very well with the new setup. (Plenty of powa for the job)

Actually, I installed the brake when I did the new exhaust. Put it in between the downpipe and the new 5 inch. Evidently it hadnt been used in quite a while, cause it was all frozen. Took it all apart and Got it all freed up and so far its doing ok.The joint at the front of the brake is leaking, so I will cut the pipe and weld in a v-band kit to stop that. Then we will see how well it will work.

Oh, by the way, I'M HOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOME!!!!!! Very pleased with the way it ran. It was 90° today and it kept its cool. All in all, my temps were a little higher then the mule and mare ever were but EGT's were lower so I could stay in it longer. That made a big difference, don't have to kick it out of cruise as much and downshift as much. What a successful team effort! I still can't stop thinking about the kindness given to me!! THANKS
Good timing Travis, I posted this before I saw your post.

It makes a big difference, but I think Glenn's old motor was in good shape too. That it runs cooler with smaller nozzles tells me either the tunes were always off or it simply wanted even more air.
The truck I'm building for someone else right now will use stage 1s, but a much more responsive turbo for a ZF5. We'll see how that one goes.
