Wow, that all makes a lot of sense now. There is a lot of heat back there where that line is, and especially doing what Glenn does, probably more so.

I know that line is braided, but is that just rubber underneath? If so, is it possible that it wore at an increased rate from all the heat cycles and extra heat for extended periods? If that makes sense?

From the picture it looked like it rubbed, but my curiosity is alive this morning. lol. It actually looks a little long like it would be easy enough to get too close to the pipe there.

Just thinking out loud. But that is crazy.

Thanks for those pictures Aaron! I see what you mean about changing the supply route.
But, I've seen enough blown hydraulic lines on the farm to know that that hole was caused by rubbing. I don't think it was a heat issue.

I wonder if it was rubbing on the hood, firewall, or something else?

Definitely a poor design. The turbo gets hot too but getting it away from the up pipes is a huge leap forward. Nothing like hot oil getting fed to the hot turbo...

Ill have to hit you up on a modified supply line for the dually when/if I put an aftermarket turbo on it

Yea after I put it on I knew it was rubbing on something above it.
The way they route it is bad either way. Its fixed now tho.

I bet it was rubbing on the aluminum heat shield.

Yessir! I think you're correct. The line was probably mocked up on an engine on a stand and they never looked closely at it on an engine that was actually sitting in the engine bay. That or the truck they put it into had more space there. The differences in the amount of space between the back of the engine and the firewall is well documented in the annals of aftermarket downpipe fitment.

At any rate, Aaron, I think your design is a lot better.

I think this should be brought to the attention of a certain kit builder...

Is that yours Gabe?
Even tho your truck sees 1/18th the miles Glenn's does I would still fix that.
