Fuel question

I just replaced my gas tank and fuel line. Is it absolutely necessary to have a fuel filter in line?

It isn't necessary. It is wise.

As in no filter? Not a good idea. My Edelbrock carb manual says the warranty is void with out it. They're cheap and easy to install. You'd be surprised how much crap will accumulate in it. Napa sells one that I replace every year. Cheap insurance.

If you mean a filter in the line from tank to pump, Yes, you can live without that one. If you have a problem with vapor lock, running without a filter in that line may help.

It would help a lot if you put the details of your truck in your Signature, so we know if you have a stock engine for instance.

Sorry,
I have a 54 model 239 in a 53 f-100. I am having trouble finding room for the filter after installing the new fuel line.

You can put it before the carb. At least that's how I did it and it works fine. I think it's OK

I prefer a metal can filter if it's in the engine compartment.
