Exclamation HELP

I have an 04 f150 with the 5.4 and recently, within the past few months, i've noticed some "jerking" especially when accelerating. At first, I thought it was the transmission, but the jerking does not coincide with the shift patterns. It jerks and stutters around 45-50 mph and 1500 rpms especially under light acceleration. Not sure if one is connected to the other, but also have no real power, ***** to the wall, i'm barely moving under heavy acceleration. ...What could I be looking at?

I am thinking it has several options, I just need to know which one to explore first...cheap, meaning fuel pump/filter?? MAF?? Or Engine Coils? Any advice is helpful!!!

My vote would be the coil packs. There is a coil on top of each plug so therefore you have 8. You could have all 8 replaced or just have a mechanic isolate the faulty part and possibly just replace 1. I had the original ones in mine until 190K and 1 went out. I replaced one and it solved the problem and I just recently had the other ones installed just for a pice of mind. Mine would do it real bad under light acceleration. Once the truck shifts into overdrive and you apply light throttle you'll feel this issue real quick. You also feel it under hard acceleration.

It's not terribly expensive to repair of that is the issue.

Good luck.

I had a complete engine replacement at 93k, and have since slowly but surely replaced the coils. But each time i replaced the coils, a hard code was set, this time..I have nothing..

Check for restricted exhaust/clogged cat converter.

Thank You, it turned out to be the # 3 engine coil... But i'm still having a lack of power. I thought the same thing about the cats as well, however, i did have them checked and I just had a new exhaust put on. Now, I havnt taken the cats off to test the power of the truck without them vs. with them.. That'll be my next path...Thank Yall!

Yes, I was gonna throw my 2 cents in there and say it was a coil pack or packs too. Sometimes, where there's one faulty coil pack, there's bound to be another.
