Champion Radiator/Lincoln Mark VIII fan = PERFECT fit

Just thought I would put this out there, but the Lincoln Mark VIII fan (which I'm sure we're all familiar with) is a PERFECT fit with the Champion Aluminum radiator that is made for our Dentsides. I mean LIKE A GLOVE, it just fits in there perfectly. Just got a couple pieces of aluminum angle and ran a couple screws through the bracket on the rad, then down into the fan housing ... not sure if the fit is as easy with a stock radiator, but man - it blew my mind how easy it was to do this.

(BTW< my entire build is on youtube under the channel name "Apocalypse Bob")

Wow, that looks great. I bought a 4 core Champion and their twin 12 inch fan kit. The radiator is great but their fan kit SUCKS! Kept overheating bad. I cut up the shroud and used it to mount a 16 inch fan from summit that I had and that works well for now.

Where did you get the fan? I think this is the route I want to go.

The Lincoln Mark VIII's had the best cooling fan like ... basically ever. Problem is a LOT of people know about them, and most of the Mark VIII's in the boneyard have had them picked out. If you're lucky, you can snag one from Pick-n-Pull for about $20. If you're not lucky, they can be had for 70-ish bucks off of eBay with a fair bit of regularity. Be warned though - you better be rocking a 3G alternator as well, cause they suck some juice.

I did the 3g upgrade a couple weeks ago.
Are you using the 2 speeds or just one? Shouldnt be too hard to do mine as a 2 speed since its already wired for 2 fans I guess.

Sa-weet. 'Got one in my '70 but had to fab brackets but the nice part is that the brackets replicate the OEM setup with two saddles for the bottom mounts and flanges for the two upper mounts. It can be removed in less than a minute I figure.

So I have read....Lincoln Mk VIII two-speed fan, Taurus or Lincoln cars.
A 95 Mercury villager minivan with a 3.3L V6. The stock radiator for this thing was a gigantic three core all aluminum radiator. However, the fan for this was a gigantic 19" two speed fan. This thing is massive. Bigger than a mark viii. If anyone's interested, I did some research the 92-2002 Villager is a rebadged Nissan quest.

Mine is a 2 speed- easy to tell if it's a two speed (three wires)... Wiring it up will be a while other story, I'm basically going to have a handful of relays and two sensors. Trigger
High/low at different temps, and have a manual bypass on the dash (as opposed to hooking that I'm through the AC)

I've heard of the vans with those giant fans - and know the taurus fans are popular alternatives- I mainly made the post so that if anyone had that specific radiator and was looking at fan options, the mark viii is a spot-on fit that you can do with two pieces of angled steel, a dozen screws, a power drill, and 20 minutes. Passing along the good luck!

The Taurus of that vintage also utilized a decent fan. A late model Crown Vic (at least '06+, possibly '03+) use an appropriate e-fan as well.

For the record, a Mark VIII fan draws absurd current at start up. I personally would preface a Mark VIII fan with a 3G upgrade.

totally agree. Personally, I don't think there is much excuse NOT to have the 3G upgrade at the top of your list no matter what. You can do it in a couple of hours and the alts can be had at the junk yard all day for like $15. Most junk yards are a sea of ford Taurus

Champion part # for the radiator?

Looking at getting one myself, but I'm all about the part #'s and being direct fit

Saw these brackets from your 70 build thread Hio. Very nice.

Any drawings/sketches/dimensions for those brackets?
