Pennzoil Platinum ATF?

I went to Pepboys to get some ATF to do a power steering flush and they had Pennzoil Platinum ATF full synthetic for less than 6 bucks a quart. The guy at the counter said that is the regular price. I already have 20 quarts of Castrol Mercon V which was more than that and is not full synthetic.

The label says it is good to use in vehicles that require Mercon and Dextron. It does say not to use for Mercon SP.

Just wondering if I should order a few cases? If I order online, I will save an addition 30 %.

Shell makes a good product so I don't see why it wouldn't be a good ATF for a 4r100. Under 6 a quart for a synthetic ATF is a pretty good deal.

I just checked Pennzoil's site and Pep boys to verify that the oil was Mercon-V rated as that is what our trucks use. I could not find Pennzoil Platinum ATF on either site. I did find that they make a Multi-Vehicle ATF that is Mercon-V rated for $5.60 a quart.

Let use know what you get or find out as I am in need of a trans service and was shocked the other day when I bought 3 gals of trans oil for the wife's 4Runner for a flush. I would love to order it and save some $.

I've just seached Pennzoil's site and I can't find this fluid listed. I did find another site that said the Pennzoil Platinum Synthetic ATF is rated for MERCON LV. It did NOT say MERCON or MERCON V. If that is correct, then this fluid is NOT for use in a 4R100.

I had to get my reading glasses. The oil is Pennzoil Platinum High Mileage ATF full Synthetic and the back says it is good for the following: "Service fill for GM Dextron-III, 2006 and earlier Fords except MERCON SP, Chrysler, Toyota T-IV, Nissan Matic-D/J/K, Mitsubishi/Hyundai/Kia SP-III JASO 1A, JWS-3309. Not for 8 and 9-Speed Transmission including Chrysler."

Oh it was 5.36 per quart. I just bought enough for the power steering flush and fill. It is 100 degrees here, so I will wait on the transmission service.

And for some reason it is not on the PEPBOYS web page

The bar code is 7161101541

One more thing, the quart looks just like the Platinum Motor Oil quart, but it is ATF. I could not find it on the Pennzoil website. Maybe, it is a limited run???

Weird, I can only find any mention of it here...

PENNZOIL INTRODUCES PENNZOIL PLATINUM TRANSMISSION FLUIDS AND AXLE OILS | Search Autoparts

Sounds like it is their synthetic Dex/Merc/Multi-vehicle fluid. Would be nice if we could see a PDS for some tech specs.
