First look it up in the accompanying book, set the settings, plug it in the correct socket, read the meter.

But they DID provide a reasonably-good indication of whether you needed a tube or two to keep that TV or radio going.

Rarely did anything else go bad in the set, with the possible exception of the tuner switch on a TV. They made contact cleaner sprays for that, and the chemicals in those cans are probably ALL banned by the state or Feds nowadays!

Couldn't afford the TV repairman, and couldn't survive without a TV...

Fairlane's looking good!

I remember those tube testers. Dad would send me to the local store with the tube and I would come back feeling all important when I give him the new one and it worked.
