ya know theres a reason i hate taking my truck into places.. youd think dealers wouldnt bust crap theyre not working on... I got home last night after my parents picked the truck up for me since i couldnt.. Was reading through the repair order.. come to find out while "pushing" my truck into the service bay the morons managed to bust the spare tire winch.. WTH!?!?! why didnt they just put the thing in neutral and physically PUSH!!! is by HAND!!! like we did when i worked at the dealers?? its not that fricken hard.. my only guess is these idiots used the fork lift to push the truck around... cuz theres marks both on the trailer hitch and they messed up the rim a bit too.. ntm knocked the weigh 2inch off from where it was.. also looked like the rim was drug along the curb too..
Where the rough patch started..
where it finished.. i took a hammer and bent it back in place.. looks almost like new.. took a file to smooth the lip back out too.. and because i could still see where the weight USE to be.. i bent the clip part enough for it to grip again (managed to "pop" it off while i was bending the rim back in place.. more like it jumped off it was that loose) then popped it back on where it use to be.. hope thatll mean its balanced well now..
shiny new cable.. retainer block looked new too but cant say for 100%
new winch...
and when i went looking around the engine bay to make sure they put it back together correctly.. i discovered when they replaced the batteries they didnt put the new felt rings i just put on the old batterys during re-assembly onto the new ones when they put them in.. little annoyed at that...

That's why I don't do dealers Shawn. Last one was around 1991 or so. Ford had a engine bearing recall on my 89 Crown Vic. We get a call that they need another set of keys because they left the car on the lift with the engine running !@#$%^. Then after they were finished they mentioned that the oil pan had a rusted hole in it. Why they didn't notify me that before putting it back together..who knows. More !@#$%^&*()

only reason she was there was for the warranty on the batteries i couldnt get to hold a charge.. they also found out my alt wasnt out putting either..
this ones a lot better than the first one i went to.. they left the lug nuts so loose i was able to literally take them off by hand when i got the truck home.. was a good thing i was doing some pretrip inspecion and maint.. would have hated to think what would have happened if any of the tires came off doing 70 down the highway with a bed load..
this instance actually reminds me of when my parents first bought the suburban.. they took it in for warranty recall work.. they had gone up to check on it.. they found it in the dealers body shop.. turned out the tech drove it into the lift and messed up the fender.. dealer wasnt going to say a thing..
