Fuel pressure dropped

Hey guys, I recently installed a glow shift fuel pressure gauge.
All seems good.
@ idle 58-60 psi
@ WOT drops to 50 psi, no less.

Tonight I went to catch up to a car that had no lights on at all to tell them and during WOT fuel pressure gauge showed it dropped to less than 30!
I let off immediately and it went right back up.
I tried to repeat it with another go @ WOT and it would not go under 50 psi like normal.

Have any of you ever had this happen to you before?
Motorcraft fuel filters less than 3000 miles ago
blue spring installed over the winter.

Was probably a fluke and magically fixed itself. I'd keep an eye on it though..

i hope so, because i already know that others with the blue spring are well over 60psi at idle.
mine never goes over 55-58. just waiting on this pump to die i guess.

Evan, i also have the blue spring. The best I have seen is 59 psi. Usually around 56 psi. I questioned my pump and changed it to a new one and saw no difference. I also have a glow shift gauge.

as far as i can tell the pump is original.
i have complete taken it apart and cleaned it, and it was actually pretty clean in there already.

that's good to know. maybe it was just a fluke in the gauge.

So on my way home after she got up to temp I did 5 different periods of WOT and now it will drop to 40-45 psi every time

Looks like it's time for a new pump

get the entire HFCM from Oreilly, comes with a harness and a new filter already in it.
(the new harness is because it doesnt have the heater element in the new one)

Pretty dang good for an 03 stock pump IMHO. The OEM pumps are a lot better than factory installed these days. You can't go wrong going back OEM unless you're going/got bigger injectors.

Thanks man! Cheaper than I thought it would be. Also will I be ok to drive it a few more days until I have time to swap it as long as I watch the gauge?

As long as your pressure is good you can drive it for as long as you like.

Just make sure the pump from o'reilly has the correct filter with the white aquabloc membrane to protect your injectors from water.. I know the OEM HFCM comes with the correct filter.

It comes with the correct filter. I just changed mine out not long ago and that oreilly HCFM had the exact same supplier code on it as my original Ford OEM pump.. only $300+ cheaper though.
