Radio to Ipod in my 52
A few weeks ago there was a thread about adding a stereo or better tunes to our trucks. I got the initial idea from a thread on the Hamb and in 2012 I added a Ipod to my 52. While doing my 6 to 12 conversion it was the perfect time. My trucks radio was missing but the dash was not cut which was nice. I found a junk radio on Ebay and using the Hamb thread as a guide I converted this radio to using my Ipod.
The radio from Ebay looked like it was at the bottom of a pond
primed and painted, polished the dial and ***** and it looked presentable
got a two channel amp off the internet for around $40. wired it to turn on using the original on/off switch. Wired the dial light into the dash lights
Had to also purchase a PAC IS 75 cable and a PAC LC 1 volume control along with a dual cone stereo speaker, all of this is in the Hamb thread. which is called "Hidden Tunes Via An Ipod"
I ran the ipod cable into the glove box and mounted the volume control right below the radio. Works real well and looks innocent. I'm sure there are better ways this is just the way I did it.
Hope this helps someone.
