I don't see the IDM being an issue here. They are all interchangeable all the way to 2003. The only difference is the voltage. It shouldn't matter auto or manual.
I don't know what the difference is to be honest. After consulting with a group of different people when replacing mine, they told me it was imperative that we put the same exact style back in it.
I was under the assumption they were particularly matched with the ECM, and exact set up of the engine.

I'm trying to remember a few years back I ordered the Swamp's IDM. HVHF and I don't think they even asked me what truck I had. Maybe a visit to their website would tell.

Neither swamps nor Riffraff's page makes a mention of the trans type when selecting the IDM.
I had always been under the impression that IDM's were completely interchangeable. I know my automatic IDM and PCM works with a manual behind my 7.3...
Yeah, I haven't made any modification to my IDM, nor have I ever heard of any differences between the auto and manual. Again, I went from an automatic to a manual, though.
I just spent a bit of time researching this, and have come up with no answers other than they are interchangeable. I'll keep looking to find an answer that has a little more depth to it.
I have run both ways, manual idm with auto computer, and auto idm with manual computer, with no issue.
Missing from the above list is the drive shaft, the auto transmission is longer than the manual by a good 6".
Thanks a lot for the help everyone, i appreciate that!!
Unfortunately no donor cars of the kind in Denmark, so we have a trip to the United States and finding the perfect donor car, and get some vacation while we are there.
In which state is best to look for such a donor car?
Or is there a website i can look for a truck with the auto trans?
Look in the Classifieds / Marketplace section here on FTE. There are many other Ford / Diesel truck forum sites, and they all have sections with listings of trucks and parts for sale.
