06 Front cover repair.

It may be hard to see in picture but up close you can see dried coolant around all the different passages from the last year and a half.

This is where coolant was going down the frond of the motor.

After many flushes and having a coolant filter still getting crap out of block drains.

Two years ago I had diesel in the coolant. Made appropriate repairs. Then six months later had small spot of coolant on ground. Thought it might be from intake donut again pulled intake manifold and donut, blue hose, o-ring on metal heater hose tube good. coolant was coming down on the passenger side by front cover and back of motor on top of starter. Put everything back together and have lived with it since. The coolant level only dropped about a cup every three months or so. After many conversations with many people about it I decided it had to be the front cover. So I pulled it off and you can see where it had been seeping and drying all around the various water ports. My question is on the seal around the crank everything I read you need to Loctite the inner race of the seal. But there is no inner seal on the crank now. Is that inner race an update? and what kink of Loctite do you use. Also are there any tips and or tricks that one should know about.

So replaced the front cover gasket without pulling intake manifold going by the video on YouTube. Was not very hard to do and now I have zero leaks.

The part that they are referring to is like the old time seal savers
that you used to get if you had a leaking harmonic balancer. You
would line it up and drive it on. The only reason you should find one
already in there would be if there was work done or a late year engine
was installed.(Not sure if it's only a repair or not) But you should find
it if someone had replaced a seal on the crank shaft.
