Geico MBI vs. Ford Diesel Care

Which one? Why? Leaning toward Geico for incremental cost and it's not the manufacturer's self-insurance policy. I have USAA so I'd have to add a Geico policy. Thoughts? I've got a 2013 F250 with 22k on it....

Geico

I have the geico policy
I have not needed it so I have no idea if it has been worth having it . I do like the fact it is a pay as you go plan and switching over at trade time is hassle free
I did ask about fuel contamination and they said it would be covered . Hopefully I will never need it but it is a little peace of mind for me
good luck in your choice

Fuel contamination should be covered under your comprehensive portion of the policy if you have comprehensive coverage.

Geico

Not sure what I was concerned with at the time
It's been 4 years with the 6.7 (I had a 11)
some time ago the fuel pump issue came up on here and some said ford wouldn't cover it and denied people coverage
I asked geico about it and they said they would cover anything bumper to bumper no matter what happened
That is why I bought it
At some point if I ever get one of these trucks past the 3/36 without trading up it will be a miracle

Geico MBI is well worth it. They have come thru for me for two claims on my previous truck.

A upper radiator hose and I needed a hpfp and was out of the 5 year/100K ford warranty.

But...they will only insure a new vehicle and or less than 12K miles I think. Might want to verify that.

Easy as pie to work with and coverage is bumper to bumper.

Geico

Just used Geico MBI recently. They replaced power mirror and, for death wobble, the tracking bar and steering stabilizer. Simple fast process only one deductible. Don't know if D.W is fixed yet. FYI they will only start new coverage on a vehicle under 15000 miles.

Is your truck outside of the factory 3/36?

And, how easy were they to work with for the claims? (one phone cal, five phone calls, etc)

I have Geico, but have not yet really looked at MBI

Well crap--I'm outside Geico's window. I'm within the 3/36 Ford coverage (2013 with 22,000). I'll ask though--what's the worst they can say--no??

Truck is a 2011 with 31000 miles on it, so out of warranty as far as years. Took one call from me to make claim and one call from dealership to let them know what they found, then Geico called me back on a three way with the dealer. I gave the ok to repair, Geico gave them ok that they would pay by credit card when complete and that was it. Surprisingly painless. Now with that being said I spoke with the dealer and he said they really pounded him on a reduced labor rate and parts price so kind of a headache for him. He still made a few thousand off the repair so it was all good. Got to say it's worth the 11.00 a month.

Basically the same experience I had on two occasions from Gieco.

One call for the claim, a three way teleconf and with me authorizing the repair.

there is some haggling by gieco to get the bill lowered but that only makes sense. Ford does not pay the dealer retail on warranty work either.

Did you get this when you applied for insurance?

Must be a Michigan thing.

See if there is a local office.

I did mine by phone but that was in 1994. Had them ever since. Being in the Military I have a policy that will never be cancelled or need to be changed when I move.

Just checked and no office in Michigan. Michigan is tough for insurance companies to qualify.
