Looking to buy 2007 Ford F-150

i brought up the idea of a sticky thread answering just this question, but was met with smug replies. anyways, what engine? if 5.4l, the most common things in my opinion are spark plugs needing replaced around 100k, cam phasers making noise (commonly described as sounding like a diesel engine), exhaust manifolds cracking and/or breaking the mounting studs off, and if 4wd, problems with the vacuum system (IWEs, solenoids, check valves, reservoirs). COP issues (coil on plug) are also fairly common, which has always been a modular motor thing. lots of good reading on all of this in this forum.

The 3rd brake light on top of the cab usually leaks and can damage the lower corners of the cab, so check them corners! They came out with a revised part so if you have to get one you can solve the problem. Watch for water streaks coming down the INSIDE of the rear glass. If you want an inexpensive work truck they made a V6 (4.2L) 5-spd manual in '07. Doesn't have a lot of power in the 5500 lb truck but it also doesn't have any of the v8 problems since its an iron-head pushrod engine.
I'm not sure I would buy a used 4.6L or 5.4L 3-valve truck.
