Overheating will be the death of me

I just replaced the entire cooling system in my truck. It's a 4.9L. Instead of the normal mechanical fan attached to the water pump, I opted for a electric fan instead. The only issue I've had is now when I sit at lights at an idle the truck starts to overheat. It hasn't yet, but I don't want it to. Any advice on anything I can do to get it cooler in there?

how is your fan actuated?

does it kick on when its overheating?

is the fan built into a shroud?

It's on a switch, so it runs the entire time the truck is running.
No, there's no shroud.

What fan did you install, and have any pics of the install?

If it's just at idle, it's likely not pulling enough air. Either too weak of a fan, improperly shrouded, etc..
I assume the fan is running when it gets hot at idle?

Just cause everything is new don't mean it will all work. Forget that all the parts are new and troubleshoot the system like you would if all the parts were original. I would start by looking at the thermostat.

And you need a shroud....especially if it's a small elec fan.
