95 f350 steering twisting with Death Wobble

On my truck every thing was fine untell she started giving me really bad death wobble at 35 mph. Didnt hit a bump or anything. So i limped it home and had my girl turn the wheel back and forth and the linkage was twisting as she turned it left and right. The truck is lifted on 37. I think i need a new tie rod. But is there a better fix for this ? and am i looking in the right spot

My old '92 F350 had very loose steering like that until I replaced all the tie-rods and links. Problem was solved. I distinctly remember seeing the link in question "roll" when turning the wheel from side to side before I replaced it.

yeah thats the weird thing is that they are all tight front left and right. its just twisting everything. But the one tie rod with the red arrow i pulled off and its a little loose when i move it a certain way. Im going to replace it and see what thatll do

Google "tie rod roll", you'll find a lot. Mine has it too and I suspect all OBS F350s (and F250s that had been converted to a D60) have this.

The drag link from the pitman arm connects to the front of the tie rod. So, as the drag link pushes and pulls left and right, it also lifts and lowers the tie rod. Lift the truck and this is exaggerated.

Other than redesigning the steering, rotate each end of the tie rod (at the wheels) the opposite direction so they 'lock' against each other. I leave a few degrees of slop as the wheels don't steer perfectly in line with each other.

About the death wobble….do you have a track bar installed? If not, why not? (Not scolding, just asking.)

Ok I see what ur saying I'll try that. Because it never did it before untell after I replaced my steering box. And yes I do have one. She's a little loose but not bad. I just replaced the drag link and she still twists. Not as bad tho but still wobbles. I'll try your idea tho right now I'm in the shop working on it. Thanks

Ok I put the tie rods in opposites from each other and that made the linkage roll stop but I still have really bad wabble. It also seems to hope too when it Dos its death wabble

If the other tie-rods are the same age then they should be replaced too IMHO.

Rotate the tires front to back and see if that helps. A broken belt in a tire does strange things. And by the way, a track bar that is even a little loose is too loose!

Ok I'll check it out some more. And the tires seem even. I spun them around a few times and didn't see or feel any out of roundness ? It feels like death wobble wile running over wash boards in the front end. And it's really hard to stop the truck when its doing it. Just tryn to give more clues to the puzzle cus everything is tight and straight

How do the spring bushings and track bar bushings look? Another source of death wobble.

Let me know if they load. Here's the track bar. Now the track bar mount did seem to move a little bit from the axle
