A couple more trucks - your thoughts

Here are two more options. I'm beginning to think that you couldn't get a 460 with a manual transmission. Also the first link with the 390 is a transplant. Came originally with a six cylinder. But it is manual.

That 79 is SHARP for 3000 bucks!

You couldn't get these trucks with a 460/4speed combo, they didn't combine them until the 5 speed come around but plenty of folks have done the swap..

both overpriced cobble up junk. black one is a 3000 grand truck maybe. the blue well where to stop and end. 390 in a truck that new was not factory. look them both over really well. look for torched frame rails with the 460 truck. as for the blue one well i would want to see the engine before i would even think of buying it.

If your looking for a mudder I guess? Overpriced.....I wouldn't buy either of those if your looking to restore a truck.

I know a lot of folks think they have a 390 and they really have a 360. I need a decent truck for a small farm in western KY. Needs to be 4wd. I don't want something necessarily restorable but I do want dependable.

The blue 79 wouldn't be bad for a farm with the torquey 390 depending on the gears .. If it came with a 300 I6 it probably had 3:55s in which case I would pass but if it has 4:10's I would go look at it ..

The blue truck is nice compared to most of the JUNK that folks show on here off Craigslist.. The opinions are a little harsh, I say if the 79 has good road manners it is well worth 3000 bucks..

I like the blue one for 3k. but it is my understandning that a fe engine in a 78 79 truck takes a lot of mods i would look close at that.

I look at these trucks constantly in NW Indiana. I've picked up a few from the southern half and they are usually not anywhere as rusted out as the northern trucks.

I'm always looking to pick up a few parts trucks and the price for the blue truck doesnt seem out of line for what I've seen lately. Which are high prices for these years. Pieces of crap with no bed are listed for 1500.

Id pass on the black one...seems a bit high but you never know what's been done($) under the sheet metal. Phone calls are cheap.

Good luck in your search!!!
