Opinion on pricing

I live in the Nevada. I own a 1977 f100 flareside with the 351m in it so I've been looking for a 460 to build and then slide in. There is a stock block with dove-c heads and it's all torn apart so hard to tell if everything is there from the pictures. He is asking 150. I'm a pretty big novice and have never built an engine from ground up but have done intakes and stuff like that but have always wanted to build one. Am I getting in over my head (I guess that is one I need to answer for myself) but if I'm not is 150 fair.

I'm gonna reply to myself

I use this forum as kindof a therapy and journal when I'm presented with an option with my truck. I've almost traded my truck for a diesel, I've bought a 460 before for dirt cheap before with the intent to build it and then decided to flip it. I'm gonna pass until I can make up my mind on what I want to do and when I finally decide then I'll commit all the way. I'm just too flaky right now. If anyone wants it, its in northern nevada.

Isn't a bad deal if the block isn't cracked, and the heads are straight. The lister is right in saying the heads are worth the asking price. You can make a heck of a motor with those parts. It may be internally balanced, but not the end of the world.

I agree the price is good .. When looking for a builder motor you want to be sure the block hasn't been bored once already by measuring the cylinders .. Also a close inspection of the cylinder walls is important to insure that anything you find in the cylinder wall s can be cleaned up when boring .030 over .. Also any bracketry you can get with the motor will save you money later ..

Lastly you should know that the current front suspension on your F100 is not adequate for the weight of a 460 motor so you'll need to address that ..

appreciate the advice

especially on the suspension. I had given it a passing thought and done a little bit of research but not a ton more than that. I will have to mull it over a little bit more intensely.
