I'm new here. 1966 Econoline pickup vin location?
I'm now here. I picked up a 1966 Econoline pickup from a friend who recently had a bad stroke and can't drive any more. Problem is I had to pick it up in Calif. and ship it back to Michigan. Well he lost the title to it and the tag on the door does not match the license plate. Replaced door? Who knows. I need to fine the vin number on the frame to clean it so the state police can check it before I can title it here in my name. Can anyone help with a location i should be?

as per the factory service manual:
"The official serial number, for title and registration purposes, is stamped on the right rear quarterbody reinforcement gusset near the spare wheel retaining bracket."

As Tom said, the Vin is stamped into the horizontal bracket behind the right tail light. Sometimes it is on the left side.
The vin is also stamped into the floor hump behind the engine dog house.
Also, if you remove the dog house, the vin is stamped into the floor under the black goo that holds the dog house to the floor. Usually on the passenger side or the front.
Then go to Econoline.org and decode both the real Vin and the data on the door tag.
