Just run a sample into a glass jar and let it set overnight

If you had only 1/4 tank and it was gas in that nozzle, I don't think you could make it down the road for 10 minutes, let alone an hour with gasoline.
If anything, you'll find water in that fuel which will also create havoc.

Made it home, draining the water fuel separator to get a sample, added diesel keen and water remover stuff, drove 50 miles...still running rough at idle and acceleration, anyone ever use marvel mystery oil?

MMO is great stuff for its intended purpose. This ain't it.

Pull a fuel sample from the tank with a siphon hose, maybe a quart or so if you are concerned about contamination. Some things to look for are strong gasoline odor for example. Take a small amount and (safely!) try to light it. Straight diesel will not ignite.

Or mud. Both make for an unhappy truck.
Also save your receipt. It it's a station fault they should cover it.
Like John said run out some into a glass jar and let it set overnight.
You can also give it a sniff but I don't know if gas would smell or not.

Also I agree if you had 3/4 tank of gas in it you most likely would
not of gotten out of the driveway of the station before it started
to act up. If the sample looks good then pull the lower filter and
see what it looks like.

Post back and let us know what you find.

NEVER USE THE WATER REMOVER STUFF.
The filter has an element to separate the water and that stuff
will let the water pass and into the injectors and then your going
to be really hurting.

You want to use a water demulsifier such as dieselkleen, not a emulsifier such as 911. Have you pulled codes, maybe an injector gave it up.

By now, I'm sure you must've taken a sample of the fuel. If it is gasoline, it will be very obvious not only by smell, but will also ignite and light on fire if you pour it on the ground and light a match to it, whereas diesel WON'T.

I drained about a gallon or so out of the water separator, its smells like diesel fuel and will not light. no codes...will a high volume of water in the fuel just make the truck run like poo, with out throwing any codes?

Just curious, what are you using to check for codes?

i got a bad tank with lots of water when I was driving back from Kodiak.......

stop, drain, drive, stop, drain--- repeat

ended up with a mechanic doing a fuil system flush, and tank cleaning

the fuel station refused to do any remembursement --- mainly I believe because I live 500 miles away in North Pole!!

good luck, and let us know what you find out

Chris
