Towing, fuel economy and Outlook

Hi there
New 6.0L owner here, pulling a fifth wheel. Disappointed in 3.5L/100km fuel performance when towing...

How can I set up my Bullydog Outlook for better fuel economy while towing? There seems to be no "towing" program in this chip, nor anything in the manual.

thanks,
.Vince

You must have expressed that fuel consumption incorrectly because 3.5l/100km translates to 67mpg US which would be spectacular for a hybrid econobox commuter.

OK that is 8.2mpg US... which sounds more like it.
How much you towing?
Hilly or flat terrain?
Sea level or altitude?
How aggressive are you driving?

12,500#
Mixed hilly and flat
Altitude - 3500' average
Not too aggressive

Have you posted a question up in the diesel or towing forums asking what others are getting from a similar combo? I don't think you are going to see much better moving that much weight.

I haven't yet -was more looking for advice on whether or not the Bullydog Outlook can do different "modes" for towing and highway and whatever.

Telling me that 7mpg is about right is helpful as I don't have much of a yardstick to measure against. My last rig and trailer was an '88 with '94 IDI Turbo and a 24' travel trailer at 5000#. This is bigger taller and heavier for sure.

Thanks, I'll ask the towing guys.

cheers
